Faculty Student Ratio: Who are you Going to Believe?
THE, QS, Round University Ranking produce completely different results
It is not the most exciting topic, but here is more about faculty-student ratio.
Times Higher Education (THE) is notorious for bundling its indicator scores inside the various “pillars” so that the public cannot figure out what is causing universities to rise or fall in the world and regional rankings. Back in February 2024, THE generously announced the top ten universities for faculty-student ratio. I don’t think anyone without access to THE’s database would have predicted who is on the list.
The top ten are all medical schools, and seven are located in Japan. The Japanese schools are poor performers in the THE world, regional, and Japan rankings.
Here is the THE top ten:

3= Nippon Medical School, Japan
3= Oregon Health and Science University, USA
6 Dokkyo Medical University, Japan
7 Saitama Medical University, Japan

8= Qazvin University of Medical Sciences, Iran
8= Kansai Medical University, Japan.
Then we have the top ten for FSR in the QS world rankings, constructed from Excel sheets for the 2025 rankings (Kudos to QS for that). This looks a little more credible.
